How much will I get? How do fees work?

Benefits

If you’re approved for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), you’ll receive monthly payments from the Social Security Administration. The amount depends on your work history and how much you’ve paid in Social Security taxes. While the maximum benefit in 2025 is $4,018 per month, the average payment is about $1,500 per month. These are 100% yours.

When you win benefits, you’ll also receive a one-time payment called "back pay" to cover the time your application was under review. This is generally larger than your monthly payments, as it's based on the time your case was pending.

Here's a look at what the average monthly benefits were in 2024:

Lawyer fee

Your lawyer’s fee comes from your one-time back pay—25% of the amount, capped by law at $9,200. This fee is standard for all disability lawyers and is only collected if you win.

Your firm will share a portion of its fee with Atticus. This way, our interests are aligned with yours. We’ll fight for your case because when you win, we win too.
